The past

400 years ago, a ship carrying 20 to 30 enslaved Africans arrived in the English colony of Virginia,

marking the beginning of a system of slavery on which the United States and its economic power was built. The end of legal slavery morphed into various actions and policies that continued traumatic, oppressive, and negative treatment of people of color.

The present

Individuals are coming together in an effort to educate the public about the ongoing effects of systemic racism and what we can do to heal inequities, for ourselves and for future generations.

The future

We shall continue to take positive actions to ensure equal treatment under the law for all citizens, residents, and visitors of this country. We dedicate ourselves to the continuing effort to affirm liberty and justice for all.
